Effort mode and subagent models in Claude Code

Claude Code dropped ultrathink mode and replaced it with an effort mode. But it defaults to the highest level.

If you feel it’s spending too much and running slow, you can lower it. Also, subagents sometimes open on the Sonnet model — it’s worth paying attention to which task runs on which model.
